
MOSCOW, February 15 Dozens of Romanian citizens were detained in Germany, posing as refugees from Ukraine in order to receive housing and benefits, reports the Romanian TV channel Digi24.
«Romanians appeared in places where the authorities offered help to refugees. They stated that they were outside the conflict zone and needed support, like everyone else refugees. They were provided with all conditions: accommodation, food and assistance at any time,” the publication noted.
The impostors were exposed by volunteers who noticed that these “refugees” did not speak Ukrainian, the article emphasized. After this, Germany began an investigation, during which it became known that in the southwest of the country alone there are more than 1.3 thousand people posing as Ukrainians, the publication says.
According to The New York Times, there are 1.2 million Ukrainians in Germany.
