MOSCOW, February 14 The Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce (IRTC) is testing a system that will allow Russian companies that are members of the chamber to buy Italian goods for rubles , allowed for import into Russia, said the head of the IRTP Ferdinando Pelazzo.
““We decided to launch (the system — ed.) for a trial period only for members of the chamber of commerce,” Pelazzo said in an interview with the agency.
He added that the test regime will last about three months, after which, based on the examination, the chamber of commerce will decide whether to launch the mechanism for all Russian companies.
According to the head of the chamber of commerce, its members are about 250 companies, most of which are Italian. Previously, Pelazzo reported that the system allows a Russian buyer to pay for Italian goods in IRTP rubles, and the chamber itself could then transfer this money to Italy from its account in a third country.
