A 35-year-old computer store manager was arrested in Moscow on charges of preparing for a terrorist attack.

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested 35-year-old manager of the Man-Made electronics store Dmitry Emelyanov on charges of preparing for a terrorist attack, reported “Caution News.”

The court’s website published a decision on the complaint against the manager’s arrest. According to the resolution, Emelyanov was detained on December 26, 2023, and the very next day he was charged.

On February 9, the Muscovite was added to the “list of extremists and terrorists” of Rosfinmonitoring, noted “Caution News”. Before this, nothing was known about the case against him.

Muscovite is accused of preparing for a terrorist attack by a group of people (Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code), illegal acquisition of explosives by an organized group and preparation for the illegal manufacture of explosive devices (Part 4 Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code and part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code, part 3 of Article 223.1 of the Criminal Code).

The accused and his lawyer objected to the arrest, since Emelyanov fully admitted his guilt and had no intention of hiding from the investigation. The defense emphasized that the Muscovite has a small child and a permanent place of residence, and asked to place him under house arrest, but the court left Emelyanov in pre-trial detention.

Other details about Emelyanov’s case are unknown. Judging by his page on VKontakte and his resume on the Domkadrov.ru website, he is interested in music and plays the guitar. The day before, the investigation asked to extend the Muscovite’s arrest. The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, February 16.
