The Prosecutor General's Office appealed the sentence against Daria Trepova on her birthday, the press service of the 2nd Western District Military Court told TASS.
The prosecution considered the punishment imposed on Trepova — 27 years in a general regime colony — insufficient.
“The court received an appeal from the Prosecutor General's Office against the verdict of Daria Trepova. In it, the department indicates that in terms of the sentence imposed on the convicted person, the sentence is too lenient,” said the court representative.
Today Trepova turns 27 years old. She was sentenced in the case of the murder of Z-blogger Vladlen Tatarsky on January 25. The decision was the most severe punishment for a woman in Russia that is publicly known. The state prosecution asked Trepova to be sentenced to a total of 28 years in a general regime colony and a fine of 800 thousand rubles.
The girl was found guilty of commission of a terrorist attack by a group of persons, resulting in the death of a person, illegal trafficking in explosive devices and forgery of documents. Dmitry Kasintsev, to whom Trepova came home after the explosion, was sentenced to 1 year and 9 months in prison.
Pro-government blogger and military man from the self-proclaimed DPR Tatarsky died on April 2, 2023 due to the explosion of a figurine given to him by Trepova during the time of his meeting with subscribers. At court hearings, the girl said that she did not know about the explosives, and thought that a wiretapping device was hidden in the gift.
The FSB named Tatar Ukrainian Yuri Denisov as the organizer of the murder. According to security officials, he came to Russia and sent Trepova an explosive device. The Investigative Committee also spoke about the involvement of journalist Roman Popkov living in Kyiv in the preparation of the terrorist attack. Popkov himself denied this.
