Sanatoriums are becoming the most popular type of recreation
Russians are increasingly choosing health holidays over excursion and contemplative holidays — the demand for trips to sanatoriums has tripled over the past year, analysts at one of the popular booking services report travel. The geography of travel has also changed — along with the health resorts of the Crimea, Krasnodar Territory and the Mineral Waters, sanatoriums located in the Urals and Siberia are popular.
Health resorts in Siberia have shown the sharpest increase in popularity over the past year — this is where those who decide to use their vacation to improve their physical and mental well-being go.
In Siberian sanatoriums, an increase in clients of 467% is recorded — this is almost 6 times more than a year earlier. The sanatoriums of the Urals are not lagging behind their neighbors: here the increase is 433% — about five times. An increase in demand is also noted in the Volga and Southern Federal Districts, as well as in the North Caucasus.
The Tyumen region has become the leader — tourist trips here are becoming increasingly in demand due to hot thermal springs, which allow Tyumen to compete with the largest balneological resorts in Europe. Neighboring Yekaterinburg also boasts thermal pools, and in Altai, Belokurikha, located in the mountains, has long been considered the traditional leader of sanatorium treatment. As for the Kemerovo region, tourists there are attracted by the opportunity to combine sanatorium treatment with relaxation at ski resorts.
According to experts, the location of the resorts is of great importance — the lion's share of clients in the sanatoriums of the Urals and Siberia are residents of the nearest regions, for whom it is important to be able to get to their holiday destination without spending too much time and money and without having to deal with acclimatization.
