The chief freelance specialist in pathological anatomy of the Department of Health of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and the head of the pathological department of the Salekhard district hospital, Sergei Ivchenko, did not answer the question of where the body of the deceased Alexei Navalny is located. After listening to the question from the Mediazona correspondent, Ivchenko immediately hung up.
Today, employees of the penal colony IK-3 informed the mother and lawyer of Alexei Navalny that his body was sent to Salekhard. However, when Lyudmila Navalnaya and lawyer Leonid Solovyov arrived at the Salekhard morgue, it was closed, and the employees began to deny that the body was delivered there.
“The lawyer called the phone number indicated on the door. He was told that he was the seventh person to call today. They don’t have Alexei’s body in the morgue,” wrote the politician’s press secretary Kira Yarmysh.
Navalny’s second lawyer in the Yamal department of the Investigative Committee was told that the cause of his death “has not been established, a repeat histological examination was taken.”
As Yarmysh noted, the results of the examination were promised to be prepared next week: “Obviously, they are lying and They are doing everything not to give up the body.” According to FBK director Ivan Zhdanov, in the morning in the colony the mother of the oppositionist Lyudmila Navalnaya was told that the cause of death was sudden death syndrome.
As a result, investigators said that they would not release Alexei Navalny’s body to relatives until the verification was completed. Yarmysh noted that an hour ago the lawyers were told that the check was over and “no crime was found.”
“The colony stated that they were interested in handing over the body as soon as possible. Now it has become obvious to the investigative committee that they are not going to hand over the body. At the same time, there is no body in the morgues,” added Ivan Zhdanov.
The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug announced the death of Alexei Navalny yesterday afternoon. The message claimed that he suddenly became ill, and soon the 47-year-old opposition leader died.

< p>During the days outside the punishment cell, the oppositionist is also subject to tougher conditions: in September 2023, he was placed in a single cell-type room (EPKT) for a year. This is a prison inside a colony for persistent offenders, in fact, a lighter version of the punishment cell for a longer period.
