MOSCOW, February 19. A possible ban on the popularization of VPN services from March 1 will deprive only certain categories of citizens of the opportunity to use them, Pavel Myasoedov, director of the IT-Reserve company, said in an interview with the Prime agency.
He recalled that VPN technology masks the user's location in order to bypass imposed bans on certain resources. The provider simply will not see the sites to which his clients go, and therefore does not have the ability to block them.
From March 1, they can restrict only the operation of freely available programs. The technology itself will remain available, but only for experienced users who can configure it themselves. “Such bans can be justified given the pressure that is being put on our country,” the expert concluded.
