The Tula Regional Court reduced the term of imprisonment for Alexei Moskalev by two months — to one year and ten months in a general regime colony. A RusNews correspondent reports this from the courtroom.
This court was considering an appeal against Moskalev’s sentence for the second time. The reason for the re-examination was that one of the judges found errors in the design of the psychological and linguistic examination — the education of its authors was not indicated there.
A 55-year-old single father from the city of Efremov, Tula region, was tried under the article of “discrediting” the army because of Odnoklassniki posts about the murders in Bucha (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code). At the same time, Moskalev first came to the attention of the security forces when his sixth-grader daughter Masha, during an art lesson, drew a woman with a Ukrainian flag shielding a child from Russian missiles; the teachers then called the police.
Moskalev was sentenced in March 2023. At the meetings, he denied guilt and said that his page was hacked. He himself was not present at the announcement of the verdict — the men escaped from house arrest. A few days later, Moskalev was detained in Minsk and taken to Russia. During his time in the colony, Moskalev was sent to a punishment cell at least five times, for example, for leaning on his arm while sitting at a table in his cell.
His daughter Masha was transferred to a social rehabilitation center even before the sentence. and then they gave it to her mother, who lived in another region and had not raised her before.
