MOSCOW, February 18 The Ukrayinska Pravda publication announced non-involvement in the publication on his page on the social network X of information about the defeat of the elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdievka, claims that the account was hacked.
On Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian Armed Forces had completely taken control of the city of Avdeevka in the DPR. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian military on this success and important victory.
«On Sunday evening, the editors lost access to their account on the social network X, and fakes began to appear on the page. In particular, fake information appeared there about the alleged defeat of elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdiivka. We are trying to restore access,» it says in a message published on the publication's website.
On the page of «Ukrainian Pravda» on the social network X, one of the latest posts is that more than 1.5 thousand Ukrainian soldiers were killed in Avdiivka, hundreds were taken prisoner. The publication denies any involvement in the published information.
The Ukrainian publication Liga also reported about the hacking and posting of such information.
«Fake news appeared on the LIGA.net website about the alleged defeat of the elite units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdeevka. The LIGA.net editors are not involved in the publication of Russian disinformation, the site was hacked by unknown persons. The fake news was quickly removed from the news feed, but for some time it was still active, and was also automatically distributed in the LIGA.net account on the social network X,” says a message published on the publication’s website.
