MOSCOW, February 20 The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation continues to work on the energy strategy of the Russian Federation until 2050, proposes to approve it in the summer, Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov said during a press conference at the “Russia” forum on VDNH.
«There is an order from the President (of the Russian Federation — Vladimir Putin — ed.) to develop a strategy until 2050. A working version of this energy strategy already exists, we are discussing it with the expert community, we are starting to discuss it with departments, even the government has already shown options and left for revision. Our proposal is to slightly shift the timing of its adoption and approval, based on the events that are coming — elections, the formation of a government — in order to approve it at the beginning of the six months, in June. We are working on this,» he said.
Energy strategy is the main document of strategic planning in the energy sector, defining the directions and priorities of state energy policy, goals, and objectives for the long term. Currently, Russia has an energy strategy for the period until 2035.
The Ministry of Energy previously planned to complete the development of a new energy strategy in the second half of last year.
