The Association of Turkish Banks notified about problems with payments with Russia

ANKARA, February 21 The Association of Turkish Banks (Türkiye Bankalar Birliği, TBB) received information from exporters about payment problems with the Russian side and passed it on to member banks , says the association’s statement received.
““We were sent information from exporters on the issue that you conveyed (problems in bank payments with the Russian Federation — ed.). Since January 1, Turkish exporters have been faced with banks refusing to accept remittances from Russia. According to the source, the problem is partly related to US pressure on Turkey in connection with sanctions.

The Turkish Ministry of Trade has taken up the issue, and Moscow is conducting a dialogue with Ankara. The Turkish side is officially aware of the existing problems in payment transfers with Russia, considers the situation not catastrophic, the relevant departments of the two countries are working to resolve the situation, a source in the presidential administration said. At the same time, a source in the banking sector reported on February 14 that the United States, based on sanctions policy, is warning a number of private banks in Turkey about the need to carefully check payment transfers with Russia, reaching a threatening tone.
