The HRC has created a working group to monitor the Russian presidential elections

MOSCOW, 19 February Human Rights Council approved the decision to create a Monitoring Working Group (MWG) to monitor compliance with the electoral rights of citizens in the presidential elections, according to the website of the Independent Public Monitoring (IPM).

"The Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC) approved the decision to create a Monitoring Working Group to monitor compliance with the electoral rights of citizens. As the executive secretary of the HRC, the head of the IWG of the HRC Alexander Tochenov, said, at the meeting a list of regions was preliminarily determined in which the IWG will monitor the presidential elections in the Russian Federation in person,” says the NOM website.

On the days During the elections, members of the IWG will travel to 11 regions of Russia. Tochenov noted that the list of regions and their number will still be supplemented and clarified. The IWG is already monitoring the election campaign; some members of the Monitoring Working Group will monitor the elections in March at their place of residence.

The Federation Council has scheduled presidential elections for March 17, 2024. Voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin.
