
MOSCOW, February 22 The Lithuanian government has decided On March 1, Russians traveling to the Kaliningrad region will be prohibited from getting off at Kyana and Kibartai stations, located on the territory of this country, the Lithuanian news portal 15min writes about this.
According to the portal, Russians who had a residence permit or citizenship of EU countries earlier could get off at the indicated stations and continue the trip.
«On Wednesday, the government decided that from March 1 it will be prohibited to get off and board transit trains at the Kyana and Kibartai checkpoints. From now on, Russians traveling around the world through the railway station Kyana will probably have to look for another route,” the publication says.
Lithuania in 2022, due to EU sanctions, limited land transit to the Kaliningrad region and introduced quotas for the transport of sanctioned goods by rail road. It was decided to deliver cargo to the region from other regions of Russia along an alternative route through the Baltic Sea on ships and ferries.
