ST. PETERSBURG, February 23 .The criminal search detained the alleged mastermind of the murder of a lawyer in St. Petersburg, as well as the perpetrator of the crime, who confused the victim by mistakenly mistaking the lawyer’s driver for her, the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
On Tuesday morning, an unknown person shot almost point-blank at the driver who brought the children to the 622nd gymnasium on Vyborg Highway. It became known that the driver is a citizen of Uzbekistan, works in the family of lawyer Viktor Patrushev, who, during the initial interview, told law enforcement agencies that he deals with arbitration cases and does not conduct high-profile criminal cases. GSUSK in St. Petersburg opened a case of attempted murder. The press service of the GUMVD for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region informed that a search for the shooter was underway. As a source in the emergency services reported on Friday, the lawyer's driver died in hospital.
“As a result of a complex of operational-search measures, employees of the criminal investigation department established the circumstances of the crime, and also detained the persons involved in it. As investigators established, the victim, a 41-year-old citizen of the near abroad, became the victim of an attack by mistake,” the message says.
As the police specify, a 58-year-old lawyer “by profession” had a conflict with a 51-year-old businessman, who turned to his “old acquaintance”, previously convicted of banditry, and offered him to eliminate his opponent for five million rubles. At the same time, in the process of executing the “order”, the executor confused the lawyer with his personal driver.
““On February 22 <…> criminal investigation operatives detained the alleged “customer” and the perpetrator of the crime and handed them over to the investigative authorities for investigation procedural actions,” the GUMVD concludes.
Police also confirm that the driver who was wrongfully targeted on Friday died from his injuries.
