WASHINGTON, February 24 American authorities, introducing more and more new sanctions against Russia, repeat the same actions in the hope of getting a new result, thereby demonstrating signs of insanity, said James Carden, a former adviser to the bilateral Russian-American Presidential Commission at the State Department.
«What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again.» again and again and expect a different result. This is exactly it,» he commented on the new package of US sanctions against the Russian Federation.
Carden also called the actions of the American administration «posturing» and added that the introduction of sanctions against Moscow in connection with the death Alexei Navalny is not a US matter, since he was a Russian citizen.
Earlier on Friday, the US Treasury, Commerce and State Departments announced the introduction of large-scale sanctions against Russia, which were timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the Russian special operation in Ukraine and death Alexei Navalny. In total, about 500 individuals and organizations, including from third countries, were added to the sanctions lists.
Russia has also repeatedly stated that the country will cope with the sanctions pressure that the West began to exert on Russia several years ago and continues to increase. Moscow noted that the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of sanctions. In Western countries themselves, opinions have been repeatedly voiced that anti-Russian sanctions are ineffective. President Vladimir Putin has stated that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the West is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
