ST. PETERSBURG, February 23 . Detained the day before, the person who ordered the murder of a lawyer from St. Petersburg and the perpetrator, who, having confused the victim, shot the driver, have been charged with murder for hire, the press center of the Russian Investigative Committee reports.
“As a result of investigative actions and operational search activities, investigators together with employees of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia detained Andrei Artyukhin, who had previously been convicted, as well as Ginteras Ragauskas. They were charged with committing crimes under paragraph “h” of part 2 of article 105, part 3 of article 33, paragraph “h” of part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder, organization of murder for hire),” the message says.
According to investigators, on August 31, 2023, Ragauskas “ordered” Artyukhin to kill a lawyer with whom he had a dispute over the rights to real estate for 5 million rubles. Ragauskas provided Artyukhin with all the necessary information, and also handed over a pistol with a silencer, the Investigative Committee reports. Artyukhin watched the lawyer “to determine favorable conditions for committing a crime.”
“On February 20, 2024, in order to kill the lawyer, mistaking the driver for him, he shot the latter in the head with a pistol,” the message adds.
It was previously reported that on Tuesday an unknown person shot almost point-blank at the driver who brought the children to the 622nd gymnasium on Vyborg Highway. It became known that the driver is a citizen of Uzbekistan, works in the family of lawyer Viktor Patrushev, who, during the initial interview, told law enforcement agencies that he deals with arbitration cases and does not conduct high-profile criminal cases. The man died in the hospital.
