WASHINGTON, February 23 The largest Russian manufacturer of aluminum semi-finished products, Samara Metallurgical Plant JSC, and its general director Mikhail Spichak fell under US sanctions, the State Department reported.
Along with the plant itself and its general director, the president of SMZ JSC, Maxim Smirnov, was subject to sanctions.
The plant’s website notes that its products are used, among other things, in the automotive and aerospace industries.
Treasury sanctions usually mean blocking assets in US jurisdictions and prohibiting transactions for Americans.
A new large sanctions package, which affects about 500 individuals and legal entities, was timed by the US authorities to coincide with the second anniversary of the hostilities in Ukraine and the death of Navalny.
