Lukashenko: the Russian Federation and Belarus as two states are more powerful than if they were one
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that in his country no one would ever support unification with Russia. This is how he explained the impossibility of merging the two countries, noting that as two independent states, the Russian Federation and Belarus are stronger.
Lukashenko complained that some of his colleagues “do not understand that there should be two sovereign independent states.” He clarified that we are not talking about Vladimir Putin and “two or three others, maybe even military men in Russia.” According to Lukashenko, independent countries are capable of “creating a unique association that will be more powerful than a unitary one.”
