MOSCOW, 24 Feb. The Russian military is using thousands of pieces of artillery in Ukraine, thanks to which they are pushing the Ukrainian Armed Forces back from their positions, military observer David Ax wrote in an article for the British publication The Telegraph.

"If you need a reason to panic about the Russian weapons, then this must be done because of the thousands of howitzers and rocket launchers that the half-million Russian army in Ukraine uses along the entire front line during a large-scale conflict between the two countries,” the expert said, commenting on Western media reports about Moscow’s alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space.
According to him, it is thanks to the extensive use of artillery that the Russian military systematically destroys Ukrainian forces in their positions and then pushes them further west.
Ex noted that units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fled from Avdeevka precisely because of the advantage of the Russian Armed Forces in the number of artillery units at the front.
In recent weeks, the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered several sensitive defeats and retreated from key fortified areas. In the Kupyansky, Krasnolimansky and Donetsk directions, the Russian army knocked out the enemy from the villages of Veseloye, Krakhmalnoye and Tabaevka.
On the evening of February 17, Sergei Shoigu reported to Vladimir Putin about the capture of Avdeevka, where one of the most serious fortifications of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front was equipped. In addition, the Russian military took the village of Pobeda, south of Avdeevka.
