AfD leader Krupalla calls for restoring trade relations with Russia

BERLIN, February 24 Germany needs to restore economic relations with the Russian Federation, which will not cease to be part of Europe, said the co-chairman of the Alternative party for Germany (AfD) Tino Krupalla in an interview with SWR.
“In the interests of our citizens, we want free and peaceful trade with the whole world, including Russia. Russia belongs to Europe, regardless of who is its president,” he emphasized.

Krupalla spoke in favor of restoring closer relations with Russia and resuming Russian gas supplies through the surviving Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

“We have always had good economic and industrial trade with Russia and benefited above all from cheap energy and gas, and with the help of the AfD we will get back to that again,” he added.
He explained that the “dependence” that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz decided to get rid of has not gone away, and now Germany, poor in natural resources, is simply dependent on the United States.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, noted that Germany’s purchases of LNG at exorbitant prices instead of Russian pipeline gas drop the level of its “competitiveness, the economy as a whole, to zero.” The Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that the West made a serious mistake by refusing to buy hydrocarbons from Russia; it will fall into a new, stronger dependence due to higher prices. Moscow emphasized that those who refused would still buy at a higher price through intermediaries and would continue to buy Russian oil and gas.
