WASHINGTON, February 26 US President Joe Biden will meet on Tuesday with congressional leaders in an attempt to persuade them to complete approval of the Ukraine aid bill, according to the White House schedule.
The bill, which involves, among other things, allocating more than $60 billion to Kyiv, received approval from the Democratic-controlled Senate, but stalled in the House of Representatives, where the majority belongs to Republicans.
«The President will meet with four congressional leaders at the White House. The President will discuss the urgency of passing a bipartisan national security funding bill and the need to keep the government running,» Biden's plans for Tuesday said.
Next week the short-term budget, which Congress approved to avoid a “shutdown” — the cessation of the work of the federal government — for the period of agreeing on a full budget for the current year, also expires.
