MOSCOW, February 26, Svetlana Bonopartova. Three-time Olympic champion in synchronized swimming Svetlana Kolesnichenko said that she was sad for the athletes who would not be able to take part in the Olympics due to sanctions.
Previously, World Aquatics published on its official website the criteria for admission of Russians and Belarusians to international competitions, allowing their participation only in individual disciplines in a neutral status.
“»I am a person who lives in the present. So, it was necessary. It’s not for me to be offended or sad in this situation, I, in fact, have everything. It’s a shame for the girls who are not yet Olympic champions or world champions. But I think that this is the moment when you need to get over yourself and wait until the next Olympic Games. Everything will be rewarded for them,” Kolesnichenko said.
The Olympics in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
