MOSCOW, February 22 American singer Taylor Swift became the best-selling music artist of 2023 for the fourth time and for the second year in a row, according to a report by the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
“We are very proud to award Taylor Swift the 2023 IFPI Global Artist of the Year Award for the fourth time,” commented Lewis Morrison, the federation’s director of charts and certifications.
According to the report, the total was calculated taking into account the sales of songs on streaming platforms, as well as sales of albums on physical media for the entire calendar year.
During the calculation, sales of compositions released over all the years of the artist’s activity are taken into account.
The Federation emphasizes that over the 11 years of the nomination’s existence, Taylor Swift has topped the ranking of best-selling musicians more often than other performers, namely in 2014, 2019 and 2022.
Second and third places were taken by South Korean pop groups Seventeen and Stray Kids.
In early February, Taylor Swift won a Grammy for Album of the Year for Midnights. Last December, she topped the “Person of the Year” rating according to Time magazine.
