MOSCOW, February 26 Since the beginning of the year, as of February 19, Russian fishermen have caught 745.9 thousand tons of aquatic biological resources — 8.2% higher than the same level date last year, as reported in the Telegram channel of the All-Russian Association of Fisheries Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Exporters (VARPE).
«From the beginning of 2024 to February 19, Russian fishermen produced 745.9 thousand tons of aquatic biological resources (plus 8.2% compared to last year). About 88% of the catch occurred in the Far East,» the report says.
Production by main species was distributed among pollock (476.7 thousand tons, plus 7.8% compared to last year), Pacific herring (114.1 thousand tons, plus 73.4%), cod (52 thousand tons, plus 0.6%), Baltic herring (2.7 thousand tons, minus 46%) and sprats (5.3 thousand tons, minus 51.8%).
Fish production on the same date, according to VARPE, increased by 15% compared to the same period in 2023, to 485.1 thousand tons.
