The Supreme Court rejected Nadezhdin's appeal

MOSCOW, February 26 Appellate Division of the Supreme Court The Russian Federation has recognized as legal the refusal of the claim of politician Boris Nadezhdin, who challenged the form of the list of signature collectors for registering candidates for the presidential elections, reports a correspondent from the courtroom.
““The appeal must be left unsatisfied,” one of the judges of the panel announced the decision.
Nadezhdin challenged the norms of the Central Election Commission, according to which the lists of signature collectors are certified by a notary of a certain region, so they cannot collect them in another subject of Russia. Because of this norm, the commission eliminated the signatures of residents of other regions submitted for Nadezhdin to the Moscow headquarters.

A representative of the Central Election Commission called the plaintiff’s demands not based on the provisions of the law. He added that the Central Election Commission acts within its powers and within its rights, approving forms related to the preparation and conduct of elections. Requirements for the registration of collectors, he added, are needed to count votes cast in each region.

Today, the appeal board of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation will also consider Nadezhdin’s complaint about the refusal of the claim, where he challenged the form of the statement of verification of signature sheets for registering candidates in the presidential elections.
On February 21, the Supreme Court recognized as legal the CEC’s refusal to register Nadezhdin as a candidate for the post of President of the Russian Federation — the proportion of invalid signatures in support of his candidacy turned out to be higher than permissible. The politician said that he would appeal this decision as well.
Four candidates registered by the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation are vying for the post of head of state: Leonid Slutsky, Nikolai Kharitonov, Vladislav Davankov and Vladimir Putin. Voting will take place on March 15-17.
