PMR officially asked for help from Russia due to the economic blockade by Moldova
The unrecognized Transnistrian Moldavian Republic (PMR) officially turned to Russia for help due to the economic blockade by Moldova. This is stated in the resolution that was adopted by the Congress of Deputies of Transnistria.
In their appeal sent to the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the PMR authorities ask to implement measures to protect Transnistria in the face of increasing pressure from Moldova. The deputies called for taking into account the fact that over 220 thousand Russian citizens permanently reside on the territory of the PMR.
It is noted that Pridnestrovie is faced with unprecedented challenges and threats of an economic, social, humanitarian, as well as military-political nature. Tiraspol also recalled the unique positive experience of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in the region, as well as Moscow’s status as a guarantor and mediator in negotiations.
