Moscow diocese: an unused building caught fire in the Conception Convent
In the center of Moscow, in the unused building of the Conception Stauropegial Convent, a fire occurred, reported the head of the information service of the Moscow diocese, priest Alexander Volkov.
The fire broke out in the main basement (on an area of 40 square meters). The fire was completely extinguished at 18.41, no one was injured.
Everything happened on the territory of the four-story building of the Conception Convent. It is specified that the building is currently under reconstruction.
It is known that the Conception Monastery was founded by St. Alexis in the 14th century. In 1547 the building completely burned down. With the support of Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich, the monastery was rebuilt in 1584.
