MOSCOW, February 28 Management of the Spanish football club Barcelona invited head coach Xavi, who is leaving the team, to change his decision and stay for another season, reports Sport.es.
In January, Xavi announced that he would leave the team after the end of the season. He took charge of Barcelona in November 2021, and his contract with the Catalan club runs until June 30, 2025, with the possibility of extending for another season.
According to the publication, Barcelona President Joan Laporta and Vice President Rafa Yuste are very pleased with the coach's work. They informally, but at the same time sincerely and decisively, informed him of their desire to extend their cooperation for another season.
Xavi is a graduate of Barcelona, played for the main team from 1998 to 2015. As a football player, he became an eight-time champion of Spain, a three-time winner of the Spanish Cup, and a four-time winner of the Champions League with the Catalans. Last season he led the Blaugrana to the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup.
