The Maserati company, which is part of the Stellantis corporation, presented the second generation GranCabrio convertible: in terms of technology and design, it is maximally unified with the Maserati coupe The second generation GranTurismo, which entered the world market last year.
The new GranCabrio is perhaps the last all-original Maserati model developed in isolation from the current and future platforms of parent corporation Stellantis. At the end of January, we introduced readers to Maserati's official plans for the coming years — there are no more technical exclusives in them, so for true Maserati fans, the new GranCabrio may become a particularly welcome new product.
The new GranCabrio looks cool, it has a very clean profile with no protrusions above the beltline — just a couple of small fairings behind the rear headrests. The fabric roof is equipped with an electric drive; it can be folded at speeds of up to 50 km/h, the process takes 14 seconds. It takes a little longer to raise the roof — 16 seconds. The volume of the trunk with the top up has decreased from 310 to 172 liters compared to the coupe, and if the roof is removed, only 131 liters remain for bags. Fortunately, the convertible retains the four-seat coupe interior configuration; some luggage can be placed on the second-row seats.

The front seats of the convertible are equipped with a system for supplying warm air to the neck area. A wind deflector can be placed over the rear seats to reduce air turbulence in the cabin when driving at high speeds. The rest of the interior is the same as the coupe: the instrument screen has a diagonal of 12.2 inches, the multimedia screen has a diagonal of 12.3 inches. Under the multimedia screen there is a block of transmission control keys and another 8.8-inch touch screen responsible for microclimate settings.

So far, only the only petrol version of the Trofeo has been announced for the new GranCabrio with a 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno biturbo engine (550 hp, 650 Nm), an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The GranCabrio Trofeo reaches its first hundred in 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 316 km/h. The corresponding figures for the GranTurismo Trofeo coupe are 3.5 s and 320 km/h. The curb weight of the convertible is 100 kg more than that of the similar coupe, and is an impressive 1895 kg. The overall length of the convertible is 4966 mm, width is 1957 mm, height with the top up is 1365 mm, wheelbase is 2929 mm. Standard wheels are 20- or 21-inch.

Later on the new GranCabrio an electric version of the Folgore will appear; its technical characteristics have not yet been announced, but they are unlikely to differ significantly from those of the GranTurismo Folgore coupe. The electric coupe is equipped with an 800-volt battery with a capacity of 92.5 kWh and a three-motor power plant with a maximum combined output of 761 hp. and 1350 Nm. GranTurismo Folgore weighs 2260 kg, accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.7 and to a maximum of 325 km/h, range on a single charge is 455 km on the WLTP cycle.
Price Maserati GranCabrio The Trofeo has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be around 20,000 euros higher than the price of the similar GranTurismo Trofeo coupe, which starts at 222,535 euros in Germany.
