MOSCOW, February 28 Decision of the Congress of Deputies of Transnistria turning to the Russian Federation for help due to pressure from Moldova is a cry of despair, said the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs and Chairman of the LDPR Leonid Slutsky.
The authorities of Transnistria turned to Russia on Wednesday for help in connection with the economic blockade by Moldova, according to the resolution adopted by the congress of deputies of all levels of the PMR.

«The decision of the Congress of People's Deputies of Transnistria to seek help from Russia due to pressure from Moldova — a cry of despair <…> Romanian citizen Maia Sandu, after being elected president of Moldova, actually curtailed the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement. A blockade was declared on the enclave by official Chisinau. Sandu follows the course of Western curators, who are not abandoning attempts to create a second “anti-Russian bridgehead “in the image and likeness of Ukraine,” Slutsky told reporters.
According to him, it is not an accident that even on the eve of the congress in Tiraspol, representatives of the Moldovan authorities and NATO came out with “various kinds of speculation” that supposedly “Russia intends to annex Transnistria.”
«These outright provocations speak of the serious tension around the Transnistrian issue and the desire to use it in a proxy war against our country. The «Transnistrian problem» is not just a turn of phrase. Behind it are real people who must survive today on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. 220 thousand Pridnestrovians are citizens of Russia. We will not leave them in trouble. Upon receipt of the PMR's appeal, I am sure that the State Duma and the Federation Council will hold a comprehensive discussion of it,» Slutsky said.
