MOSCOW, February 28 The Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation records a decrease in producer prices for poultry products, as well as a decrease in selling prices for a number of vegetables — among them potatoes, cabbage and cucumbers , the ministry said in a statement.
“The Russian Ministry of Agriculture continues to record a decrease in producer prices for poultry products,” the press service reported. “Among other trends, one can note a decrease in selling prices for a number of vegetables, including potatoes, white cabbage and cucumbers,” they added.
In particular, over the last week, selling prices for chicken meat decreased by 0.1%, to 157.02 rubles per kilogram as of February 28, for eggs of the first category — by 1.3%, to 89.68 rubles per dozen, for eggs of the second category – by 1.1%, to 80.03 rubles per dozen. “The current dynamics of producer prices is reflected in retail prices, which also decreased over the week,” the report says.
Among other trends, the ministry notes a decrease in selling prices for a number of vegetables, including potatoes, white cabbage and cucumbers. “Particularly noticeable dynamics are observed for cucumbers, which fell in price by 2.5% over the week, and compared to the level of a year earlier, they cost 2.4% less. Selling prices for tomatoes are now 3.8% lower than on the same date last year,” the press service clarifies.
They explained that the stable price situation is facilitated by the growth in vegetable production in winter greenhouses: as of February 28, its volume is 3.2% higher than a year ago on the same date, including 108.6 thousand tons of cucumbers and 74 8 thousand tons of tomatoes.
Rosstat reported on Wednesday that during the period from February 20 to 26, eggs in the Russian Federation became cheaper by 0.23%, chicken meat — by 0.13%, cucumbers fell by 1%, potatoes — by 0.4% . Meanwhile, according to his data, over the same period, tomatoes increased in price by 2.2%, and cabbage — by 2.4%.
