High-speed line (HSM) Moscow – St. Petersburg can be built within five years. Deputy Head of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers Marat Khusnullin, who oversees the construction industry in the government, spoke about this on Thursday, February 29.
As the Deputy Prime Minister clarified, the financing scheme for the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway will be finalized in two or three months, and mostly the sources of funding have already been identified.
Khusnullin also emphasized that the route has been fully approved, which means that it is realistic to launch train traffic on the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway within five years.
Earlier, the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, said that Moscow will fulfill all the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin to implement the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway project. He noted that the launch of this line will improve the quality of life of more than 30 million Russians.
Smolny stated that St. Petersburg is ready to take financial part in the construction of a high-speed railway. To implement the project, the VSM — Two Capitals company was created. The government of St. Petersburg added that bank credit funds will be attracted.
