DONETSK, March 1Ukrainian troops shelled the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka on Friday, firing three cluster shells of 155 mm caliber and eight shells of 152 mm caliber, the DPR representative office in the Joint Center for Control and coordination of issues related to war crimes by Ukraine in the Telegram channel.
«Shelling from the armed formations of Ukraine was recorded in the direction: 10.10 (coinciding with Moscow time) — the settlement of Dzerzhinsk — the settlement of Gorlovka (Nikitovsky district): 3 shells of 155 mm caliber (cassette) were fired,» the department said in a statement .
It is noted that at 9.30 and 9.50 four 152-mm caliber shells were fired at the specified area.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. This is one of the largest populated areas of the DPR; before the start of the conflict in Donbass, the population of Gorlovka numbered more than 250 thousand people.
