The columnist noted that even Washington is already openly admitting that Ukraine will soon lose its lands, and the best way to avoid this is there would be negotiations with Russia, but the Kiev government continues to wage hostilities, hoping for possible supplies of Western weapons or direct intervention in the conflict.
On February 27, White House strategic communications coordinator John Kirby said Ukraine will continue to over the next few months to lose ground without American help.
The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that there are no prerequisites for the situation in Ukraine to transition to a peaceful direction now, the absolute priority for Russia is to achieve the goals of the special operation, at the moment this is only possible through military means. At the same time, Moscow indicated that it was ready for negotiations, but Kyiv introduced a ban on them at the legislative level.
