Yulia Tymoshenko accused Zelensky of excessive consolidation of power
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky should not abuse his powers, the head of the Batkivshchyna party, Yulia Tymoshenko, shared her point of view in an interview with the German channel ZDF.
“He shouldn’t abolish democracy. This shouldn't happen. Pluralism must remain,” said the opposition Ukrainian politician.
Tymoshenko recommended that the head of the Ukrainian state pay attention to this and not use the consolidation of power more than necessary. She also acknowledged that the former Soviet republic has problems with corruption.
In January, the American magazine The American Conservative published an article saying that Western media were inflating the widespread myth of Ukraine as a “freedom-loving democracy,” but in reality, Kyiv is increasingly showing authoritarian behavior. Zelensky's supporters abroad continue to ignore, downplay, or even support the Ukrainian leader's repressive behavior.
