HELSINKI, March 1 A flayer appeared in the Mustamäe district of Tallinn and nailed a squirrel and a hare to a bench and a tree, Postimees reported on Friday.
“»Over the past two days, a squirrel and a hare were found nailed to a tree and a bench in Mustamäe. Residents of Mustamäe reported the incidents to the district administration and the police,» the report says.
According to the head of Mustamäe, Aivar Riisalu, cruelty to animals is unacceptable and punishable. “The animal torturers (it is possible that there are several of them) operating in the area must be found and brought to justice as soon as possible,” Riisalu told Postimees.
Riisalu emphasized that the hares and squirrels that live in Mustamäe Männi Park have become a symbol of the area, and both small and adult animal lovers come to see them.
