BAKU, March 2 The Southern Gas Corridor will completely change the geography of supplies energy resources, as well as issues related to energy security, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview with Euronews TV channel.
«This 3,500 kilometer long pipeline is now a reality. It is no longer a dream. It covers a growing number of countries because, as I said today at the opening of the meeting, we have new interconnectors that allow natural gas to be transported to new destinations. In fact, this completely changes the geography of energy supplies, as well as issues related to energy security. And the manifestation of good results of the initiative that we launched ten years ago, of course, should make us happy,» Aliyev said.
According to him, Azerbaijan has a very ambitious agenda of projects for the production of renewable energy resources.
«The potential of the Caspian Sea of Azerbaijan is 157 GW, which is based on the assessment of the International Finance Corporation. And we have already begun to follow this important path. We plan in ten years to use renewable energy sources to the maximum extent and reduce the consumption of natural gas within the country,» the president noted.
