It has long been known that Kia finally decided to produce a pickup truck: camouflaged test prototypes have been caught by spies more than once. However, the brand itself officially announced such a model only now. It is curious that the first video teaser was published not by the global or even the Korean office, but by the Australian division. Apparently, the Green Continent will become the debut and main market, although the truck, as expected, will not be a local exclusive.
The pickup truck itself is not highlighted in the video — it only discusses what name the model might get, Moreover, many famous Australian athletes are involved in the video. But the silhouette of the new product appeared on the local Kia website.

As for the name, then in principle it is no longer a secret. Firstly, the Koreans previously registered the name Tasman, and secondly, the company left some pretty bold hints in the teaser. According to Australian specialized media, the Kia Tasman will have a body-on-frame design, while its sister brand Hyundai now offers exclusively a “passenger” Santa Cruz truck with a monocoque body. It is assumed that the new Kia will be offered not only with a double, but also with a single cabin; in addition, the Tasman in Australia will be available as a chassis with the ability to install add-ons. Load capacity will be 1 ton. The pickup is predicted to have a 2.2 turbodiesel, familiar from other models of the Hyundai-Kia concern.
