The prosecution demanded that the sentence of the former head of Navalny's Ufa headquarters, Liliya Chanysheva, be increased to 10 years in prison

The prosecution demanded that the sentence be toughened for the former head of Navalny's Ufa headquarters, Liliya Chanysheva, and sentence her to ten years in prison, reports SotaVision's correspondent from the Sixth Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction in Samara.

The prosecutor said during the hearing that the verdict should be tightened, since Chanysheva “provoked and incited Ufa residents” to protest in the streets.

“According to the prosecutor, there may also be a refusal, but there may be an increase in the term or fine, or maybe both. There is no hope for a reduction in the sentence and fine for those convicted,” said lawyer Ramil Gizatullin.

In June 2023, the Kirovsky District Court of Ufa sentenced Chanysheva to 7.5 years in prison in the case of the “extremist community”. The activist was also fined 400 thousand rubles. The state prosecution requested 12 years in prison for her. Former headquarters volunteer Rustem Mulyukov was tried together with Chagysheva — he has a group 1 disability. He was sentenced to 2.5 years in a general regime colony.

Navalny’s headquarters were recognized as an “extremist organization” in June 2021. Chanysheva insists that she left the headquarters even before the decision of the Moscow City Court, and the entire accusation is based on the fact that she allegedly corresponded with Navalny’s ally Ruslan Shaveddinov.

At the end of September 2021, the Investigative Committee opened a case about the “extremist community” against Navalny and his associates. The verdict on it, in addition to Chanysheva and Mulyukov, was given to Vadim Ostanin in Barnaul and Ksenia Fadeeva in Tomsk — they were sentenced to nine years in prison.

From November 2021, until she was transferred to a colony in the Perm Territory, Chanysheva was in different pre-trial detention centers. In October, she was transferred to pre-trial detention center-5 of Bashkortostan in the Dyurtyulinsky district of the republic, after which the staff of the institution put her on preventive registration as “prone to committing crimes of a terrorist nature and extremist nature.”
