GM and SAIC launched a new model: the BinGuo Plus hatch was cheaper than its competitors

The new Wuling electric train has one motor and one configuration, but you can choose the battery.

The cute little electric hatch Wuling BinGuo (aka Bingo) debuted last year. And now he has an older brother: a five-door with the Plus prefix is ​​presented in China. Preliminary prices have already been announced, local dealers are accepting orders. Well, let us remind you that the Wuling brand is part of a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC.

Wuling BinGuo Plus is not at all a stretched version of a hatchback without a “surname”, but a completely independent model with an original body, optics and interior. Apparently, the name familiar to the Chinese was assigned to the new product in order to attract interest in it, because the original compact turned out to be quite successful. The length of the Plus is 4090 mm, width – 1720 mm, height – 1575 mm, wheelbase – 2610 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of “just” Wuling BinGuo: 3950/1708/1580 mm, the distance between the axles is 2560 mm.

The new Wuling BinGuo Plus is offered with a single 102-horsepower electric motor, which is installed on the front axle. You can choose a battery with a capacity of 37.9 or 50.6 kWh. In the first case, the power reserve will be 410 km according to the CLTC cycle, in the second – 510 km. The younger Wuling BinGuo in China is today available with an electric motor with a power of 41 or 68 hp, and it has three battery options: with a capacity of 17.3 kWh, 31.9 kWh or 37.9 kWh, with a nominal range of – from 203 to 410 km.

But the Plus has only one package, and it’s quite simple. The list of equipment includes: 15-inch wheels, LED running lights, 8.8-inch virtual instrument cluster, multimedia system with a 10.1-inch diagonal touchscreen, air conditioning, rear view camera and cruise control.

Wuling BinGuo Plus with basic battery now costs 89,800 yuan, which equivalent to approximately 1,123,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. A longer-range option will cost 98,800 yuan (1,236,000 rubles). The price of a hatch without a prefix starts at 59,800 yuan (748,000 rubles). Its closest competitors are noticeably more expensive, but they are also richer. Thus, the Ora Good Cat electric hatch (in Russia this is Ora 03) will cost at least 129,800 yuan (1,623,000 rubles), and the Volkswagen ID.3 costs from 163,888 yuan (2,049,000 rubles).

The “short” Wuling BinGuo is also represented outside of China — in particular, it is assembled and sold in Indonesia. That is, BinGuo Plus can also reach other countries.
