The British company Lotus Cars, owned by the Chinese holding Geely, announced prices for the large electric liftback Emeya, which will fight the German Porsche Taycan.

The world premiere of the Emeya liftback took place in September last year, it became the second electric Lotus model after the Eletre crossover presented in 2022, both cars are built on a modular skateboard platform EPA (Lotus Electric Premium Architecture), which is a derivative of the SEA (Sustainable Experience) platform developed by Geely Architecture). The overall length of the liftback is 5139 mm, width is 2005 mm, height is 1459-1467 mm depending on the modification, wheelbase is 3096 mm. Curb weight — 2455-2565 kg, depending on modification.

The Emeya's body integrates movable aerodynamic elements, including a two-tier wing on the tailgate that creates up to 215 kg of download at high speeds, as well as 34 different artificial vision organs (including four lidars) necessary for the operation of advanced electronic driver assistants. The declared aerodynamic drag coefficient cx with the wing retracted and the flaps in the front, rear and bottom closed is 0.21.

The Emeya's standard equipment includes adaptive air suspension, capable of adjusting ground clearance within a range of 25 mm; powerful Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes with front 10-piston calipers are available for an additional fee. Promotional photographs show cars with cameras instead of mirrors, but this is an option; by default, traditional “mugs” are installed on the body — with them, decorative plugs will be installed on the front door panels instead of screens.

The salon is five- or four-seater, that is, in the second row two separate chairs with a high box-armrest between them can be installed. The front panel has a central 15.1-inch multimedia screen with a graphical interface based on the Unreal Engine game engine. The narrow instrument screen is 12.6 inches, and the front passenger has the same 12.6-inch information screen. The driver also has a 55-inch augmented reality projection screen on the windshield. There is a lot of carbon fiber in the finishing; soft surfaces can be upholstered with traditional leather or newfangled synthetics made from industrial waste. For an additional fee, a powerful KEF audio system with 23 speakers is available. The volume of the main trunk is 509 liters, in front there is an additional narrow trunk in which it is convenient to store the charging cable.

The Emeya offers two powertrains to choose from, both dual-engine, meaning all-wheel drive is standard. On the Emeya L and Emeya S versions, the maximum combined output of the two engines is 450 kW (612 hp) and 710 Nm, on the top version of the Emeya R — 675 kW (918 hp) and 985 Nm. Emeya L and Emeya S accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.15 s, top speed is 250 km/h, the corresponding figures for Emeya R are 2.78 s and 256 km/h. Battery capacity is 102 kWh, range on one charge is 480-650 km on the CLTC cycle or 484-610 km on the WLTP cycle, depending on the modification. The maximum battery charging power is 350 kW, you can replenish the charge from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes.

In Europe, Emeya L is called simply Emeya and costs from 106,400 euros, Emeya S — from 126,950 euros, Emeya R — from 150,990 euros.

In China, prices were announced back in January and they are more humane than in Europe: Emeya L costs from 668,000 yuan (85,070 euros at current exchange rates), Emeya S — from 768,000 yuan (97,805 euros), Emeya R — 968,000 yuan (123,275 euros).

For comparison, let's say that the recently updated Porsche Taycan sedan costs in Germany in the range from 101,500 to 209,900 euros. Let us remember that the Taycan has station wagon versions — Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo. According to the British magazine Autocar, the Lotus Emeya will most likely soon also receive a station wagon version, because this body type is in demand in Europe and is gaining popularity in China.

The Emeya is being produced together with the Eletre crossover at the new Lotus plant in Wuhan, China; deliveries of the ordered liftbacks to Europe will begin next fall.
