SIRIUS, March 6 Russia must actively increase information presence in the world, including in Africa, says Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“Of course, we must build up,” Peskov told reporters at the World Youth Festival, answering the question of whether the Russian Federation should more effectively increase its information presence on other continents, especially in Africa.
At the same time, he noted that the African continent has its own specifics of information dissemination, for example, there are no large pan-African media there, and the Internet is less developed. “This is an important area of work for us,” the Kremlin representative added.
He also recalled the very substantive Russia-Africa summit that took place last year in St. Petersburg. “Extensive plans have been drawn up to develop cooperation with specific countries, which, by the way, are now being actively implemented. And this, of course, should all be accompanied by information. Apparently, we will have a lot of work in this direction. We have the appropriate media, appropriate information agencies that have plans to expand their presence in Africa,” Peskov said.
The World Youth Festival is being held from March 1 to 7 in the federal territory of Sirius by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organizer of the festival is Rosmolodezh.
