BOCHAROV RUCHEI (Sochi), March 6. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting on the development of the South of Russia and the Azov region via videoconference, proposed separating freight and passenger flows of railway traffic in the southern direction.
«I ask you today to outline proposals for expanding the capacity of the Azov and Black Seas, including, I propose to think about the possible separation of freight and passenger traffic in the southern direction,” Putin said.
He noted that there are bottlenecks on the railways in the southern direction. They should be in sight, since the railway today carries out the main burden of cargo transportation, including growing business demand for transportation to southern ports.
The President also recalled that the task has already been set to reduce the travel time of passenger trains traveling from Moscow to the Black Sea coast to 16 hours. He clarified that the Black Sea resort is the favorite vacation spot of Russians.
