KAZAN, March 7 Tatarstan police detained a man who was transporting about nine kilograms of explosives in a car, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic reports.
Earlier, a representative of emergency services reported that law enforcement officers stopped a Ford car with a chemical substance that looked like an explosive on the M-7 Volga federal highway in the Verkhneuslonsky district of Tatarstan. An elderly man was driving the car.
“Staff police officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kazan stopped a Ford car driven by a Khabarovsk resident born in 1959 at a stationary police checkpoint «When communicating with traffic police inspectors, the man began to get nervous, which aroused the suspicion of the police,» the report says.
During the inspection of the Khabarovsk resident’s car and personal belongings, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, suspicious objects were discovered, which, according to an expert’s conclusion, contained an explosive with a total weight of about nine kilograms.
A criminal case has been initiated under the article “Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives or explosive devices.” The suspect was detained.
