MOSCOW, March 7 Vladimir Zelensky sent former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny was sent as ambassador to London to keep him away from Ukraine, said the first deputy chairman of the State Duma defense committee, Alexei Zhuravlev (Rodina party).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Thursday announced the approval of Zaluzhny's candidacy for the post of Ukrainian ambassador to the UK.
«Zelensky needs to quickly get rid of Zaluzhny as his main political competitor, because all polls show that the former commander-in-chief is winning his former commander with a crushing score. That's why they are sending him away — as an ambassador to London, to keep him at a distance from Ukraine,» Zhuravlev said.
The deputy noted that if something happens to Zaluzhny in the UK, it will be much easier to blame the Russian special services.
On February 5, shortly before Zaluzhny’s resignation from the post of commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Yevgeny Shevchenko stated that Zaluzhny had agreed to the post of ambassador to Great Britain.
