ST. PETERSBURG, March 7. Gazprom filed a claim with the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to recover more than $900 million from the Polish concern Orlen and Europol Gaz, the operator of the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, as follows from the file on the court’s website.
The Russian company demands from the defendants 710 million dollars and about 886 million Polish zlotys (approximately 223 million dollars at the current exchange rate).

The hearings are scheduled for April 10. The defendants also include Ernst and Young Global Limited and Ernst and Young sp z o. o. Corporate Finance.

Europol Gaz was a joint venture between Gazprom and Orlen, with the Russian company holding a 48 percent stake. In April 2022, Poland added Gazprom to the sanctions list and blocked its assets. In response, Russia took restrictive measures against Europol Gaz, and Gazprom stopped supplies through Yamal — Europe. In October 2023, the Polish authorities transferred the Polish section of the gas pipeline to Orlen along with Gazprom's frozen share.
In May 2023, Europol Gaz filed a claim with arbitration at the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce against Gazprom for six billion zlotys (about 1 .4 billion) due to debt for gas transportation and “lost profits” as a result of the interruption of supplies. The Russian company sought an injunction for Europol Gaz to continue the proceedings in Stockholm, but it violated the injunction, and in October the St. Petersburg arbitration court ordered it to pay approximately $1.5 billion.
