MOSCOW, March 4, Yulia ZachetovaHis appearance on stage was always a provocation, and every performance was a bright show. Today Boris Moiseev would have turned 70 years old. The artist spent the last years of his life alone and ill. About the tragic fate of the singer and dancer — in the material .
The show must go on
He wasn't afraid to look funny or stupid. The main thing, according to the behests of Freddie Mercury, is that “the show must go on.” It is no coincidence that in 1993 Moiseev released a performance of the same name in honor of the Queen frontman.
The artist began his creative career in the dance trio «Expression» — together with two girls he performed in a variety show in Jurmala. Alla Pugacheva noticed them there and invited them to join her troupe. The singer remained one of the few with whom Moiseev kept in touch until the very end.

He choreographed the numbers himself — he graduated from the Minsk Choreographic School, worked at the Kharkov Opera and Ballet Theater as a choreographer-director , was the choreographer of an orchestra in Lithuania.
The trio toured Europe and America — abroad Moiseev looked for interesting elements from musicals, cabarets and variety shows. In Expression, he had a memorable hairstyle — curly blond hair tied into a long ponytail. Costumes are a different story. Either he portrayed Pierrot with long sleeves, then he danced tango in a classic jacket, then he galloped in a hussar uniform, then he transformed into a cat in tight tights. Boas, sparkles, rhinestones, lace, suspenders, bright makeup.
Tragic reality
The artist himself preferred to create a legend about himself and often refuted his own words in interviews. Perhaps stage brilliance was a way of resisting tragic reality. He was born in a women's correctional colony in Mogilev and grew up without a father. The mother was subsequently killed by a deaf-mute neighbor who had the wrong door.
Boris Moiseev once said that his mother taught him under no circumstances to hold a grudge against people or to snap back in response to cruelty. Colleagues in show business remember him as a kind and bright person.

"We worked with Borya for many, many years, back at Mosconcert. and «Rosconcert». He was a wonderful dancer, a wonderful singer and artist, and most importantly, a kind person,” said Vladimir Vinokur.
If artists or producers had problems, Moiseev provided his own ensemble for other people’s numbers. “Borya will always help out,” colleagues noted.
Lecher or gentleman

He was amazingly flexible. He enthusiastically fit into any adventure, be it a lyric video with Lyudmila Gurchenko, a hooligan performance at the Silver Galosh award, or a provocative video “I am a baller” with Stas Kostyushkin.
Critics accused him of vulgarity, Moiseev’s shows were even called depraved.
“Very often the hosts of all sorts of shows and ceremonies say: “Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only…” But it seems to me that this applies to Boris to the greatest extent, because you can have different attitudes towards his music, towards his shocking, but the fact that he really was the one and only artist who left a bright mark in the history of our stage is a fact,” emphasized comedian and TV presenter Sergei Drobotenko.
Illness and conscious isolation from the world
In 2010, the artist suffered a stroke. The consequences were severe: the left arm and upper lip were immobilized, and speech was impaired. The next ministroke worsened the condition. Moiseev almost did not appear in public, although he gave rare comments by phone.
“Yes, it’s a little hard sometimes. But I’m not bedridden at all. My day starts like everyone else. I get up, wash, get dressed, have breakfast. Then everyone goes to work, and I have my own “work”: phone, computer, TV , obligatory walks in the fresh air, which I love very much,” he said.
The singer did not want the audience to see him “out of shape” or, even worse, to feel sorry for him. According to backing vocalist Alsou Kopylova, Moiseev even refused to have a nurse. Alla Pugacheva and art director Sergei Gorokh regularly contacted him. He discovered the artist’s body after the third stroke.
“
"I always came to him around four or five o’clock. But this time it seemed to me that I needed to go. I arrived at his place at two o'clock. And I didn’t hear the usual “Hello.” I see Borya lying on the sofa, covered with a blanket. The head is slightly raised, eyes open. I thought maybe he didn't feel well. I came closer, took his hand and realized that Boris was no longer there,” recalled Gorokh.
Boris Moiseev passed away on September 27, 2022. He was buried at the Troekurovsky cemetery. A sculpture was installed on the grave — a fragment from his favorite composition “The Pain of Separation”.
