ANKARA, March 8 Turkey is discussing options for supplying Turkmen gas to the country through Iran, Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea, and is ready to quickly receive two billion cubic meters of “blue fuel,” said Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alharslan Bayraktar, as quoted by the Turkish economic publication Foreks.
Turkey and Turkmenistan, following negotiations between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chairman of the Khalk Maslahaty (People's Council) Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, signed documents on cooperation in the field of natural gas, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan previously reported.
«Turkmen gas has been on our agenda for many years. We are at a stage where conditions are ripe. The first alternative for Turkmen gas to come to Turkey is an exchange through Iran. The second option is a swap through Iran and Azerbaijan, and the last «The option is to deliver gas from the Caspian Sea via pipeline. The latter option is more long-term and sustainable. We are at the stage where we can quickly supply 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Turkmenistan,» the minister said.
