
MOSCOW, March 6 Director Rimas Tuminas died in a hospital in Italy at the age of 72, the press service of the Vakhtangov Theater reported.
“Rimas Tuminas died in a hospital in Italy,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
Tuminas was born on January 20, 1952 in the city of Kelme (Lithuania). He graduated from the directing department of GITIS, after which he worked in theaters in Vilnius and Moscow. Tuminas staged plays abroad, in particular in Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Poland. In 1990, he founded and headed the Vilnius Maly Theater.
In 2007, the director became artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theater; on May 6, 2022, he left this position.
