The cosmonaut's ninetieth birthday was celebrated in an Armenian village named after Gagarin.

YEREVAN, March 9The ninetieth anniversary of the birth of Yuri Gagarin was celebrated in the Armenian village named after the world's first cosmonaut, the press service of the Russian House in Armenia (representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo) reported.
The village was given the name Gagarin after Yuri Gagarin's flight into space on April 12, 1961.

«»In the village high school, every student knows by heart the biography of the Hero of the Soviet Union. Traditionally, children celebrate his birthday together with the Russian House team. Students in grades 5-12 prepared thoroughly: homemade spacesuits made of foil were hung, the walls were decorated with portraits of cosmonauts and photographs of the Russian test cosmonaut Harutyun Kiviryan,” says a message published on the representative’s Telegram channel.
It is noted that the guests of the event were greeted with bread and salt. Schoolchildren danced both Russian and Armenian folk dances and acted out scenes from Gagarin's childhood. “I would like each of you to be able to achieve the same success as Gagarin. Our event should become motivation for you on this path,” said Andranik Stepanyan, director of the Gagarin village secondary school.

Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Armenia Ekaterina Andreeva presented a letter of gratitude and books for the school’s library fund.
